Tearney, 26, took 54 minutes to despatch 21-year-old Norrie, earning a first-round match against 59th-ranked Dutchman Robin Haase on Monday.

Fellow Kiwi Rubin Statham missed out the main draw after he was beaten 6-4 6-1 by American Ryan Harrison in Sunday's second round of qualifying.

Tearney will join compatriots Michael Venus and Artem Sitak, who both earned wild card entry to the main draw.

Venus is up against world No.28 and sixth seed Feliciano Lopez of Spain, while Sitak meets Frenchman Jeremy Chardy, currently ranked 69th in the world.
