Teenager charged over Invercargill crash

A male teenager has been charged after a fatal road crash in Invercargill.

The driver of one of the two vehicles involved, Leslie John Dooley, 79, died as a result of the collision.

The incident happened at the intersection of James Street and Margaret Street about 9.20am on Tuesday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Stu Harvey says a 17-year-old has been charged with driving while forbidden and failing to stop and ascertain Injury.

He is due to appear in court next Tuesday.

Det Sen Sgt Harvey says the investigation into the crash is continuing.
