Megan Dixon, 18, went for an interview at a new branch of Miller and Carter in Leicester.

She says assistant manager Shantell Wesson had told her she would receive an email in a few days telling her if she'd got the job.

But Megan says moments after leaving the restaurant she received a text which read simply: "It's a no"

When she replied asking: "Okay. How come?" she was told "Just not engaging. And answers were 'like' basic"

A crying face emoji was also tagged onto the end of the message.

She went on: "I was shocked. The least she should have given me was some proper feedback.

"It was a really bitchy thing to do."

When contacted by The Sun, Shantel Wesson refused to comment but a Miller and Carter spokeswoman said: "We can’t apologise enough to Megan.

"It was never our intention to be disrespectful or upset her in any way.

"The texts were sent in error and were intended for our manager, not the candidate."

She added the incident was being taken "extremely seriously" and would be investigated.
