A 15-year-old has been charged after two males armed with a tomahawk and kitchen knife robbed a Christchurch dairy.

The pair stole cash and cigarettes from the J-Mart Dairy in Opawa on Thursday, police say.

The teenager is set to appear in Christchurch Youth Court on Saturday.

Police say they will oppose bail with the teen already facing a charge over a separate robbery.

Shop owner Eric Ye said he chased two armed males away with a baseball bat during the robbery but is scared they will return, Fairfax reports.
