Ten NZ projects up for design awards

Ten projects by New Zealand architects have made the shortlist for the prestigious World Architecture Festival Awards.

The festival's shortlist for 2016 has been released, with Richard Naish's Auckland-based RTA Studio, which won a future project award in 2012 for its Wanaka "C3 House", up for three categories.

Category winners will be announced at the festival in Berlin on November 16 and 17, with the World Building of the Year winner announced on November 18.

* Archimedia's Te Oro community and arts centre in Glenn Innes (civic and community)

* Monk Mackenzie Architects + LandLab's LightPath (transport)

* Crosson Architects' The Red House in Auckland (house)

* Herbst Architects' K Valley House in Thames (house)

* RTA Studio's E-Type house in Auckland (house)

* RTA Studio's Hellmann Logistics building at Auckland Airport (production, energy and recycling)

* RTA Studio's Tarawera High School (school)

* Warren and Mahoney's XV Pacific Games Village in Papua New Guinea (housing)

* Isthmus Group's Kopupaka Reserve stormwater system for Westgate in Auckland (landscape).
