The Spring Trends Everybody Will Be Wearing And How To Style Them

The Huffington Post The Huffington Post 21/03/2016 Condiment

Spring is here at last. If a new season doesn't generate all kinds of excitement, the thought of warmer days ahead will. While you can absolutely update your existing wardrobe by reinventing past pieces in new ways for your outfits, there are some great new trends on the horizon to incorporate. Here's a look:

The timeless ruffle really never leaves the fashion scene, but this time around it's taking more of a center stage. The trend lies in the overly dynamic, statement style intended to command attention. But, you can opt for a more pared down ruffle companion as there will be plenty of variety and options across the spectrum for this trend. For the more dynamic ruffle item, style it with something simple. The intent is for the ruffle to do the talking. But you can mix it with another statement piece -- a great example, the season's equally popular wide leg pant. Just keep an eye on volume and balance. Top, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Shopbop2. The good old stitch is back in a big way this year. You'll spot it in it's traditionally bohemian and earthy vibe on pants, jackets, tops, skirts, handbags, and even footwear. But, don't automatically assume that you've got to draw out your inner hippie to work this trend. Plenty of brands are offering the trend in chic, sophisticated styles -- clean lines, simple neutrals, etc. Regardless of which vibe you opt for, styling this item is easy peasy. It literally can work with everything, though if you're doing a boho piece, skip the 70s flares to avoid an intentional look. Or go big with it. Sky's the limit on this one. Top, H&M3. Denim's always cool as far as we're concerned, but it's leap into everything but jeans is one trend that anybody can get excited about this year. The classic fabric will turn up in just about anything you can imagine -- bags, shoes, dresses, tops. It'll particularly be dresses and shoes, but don't be surprised to see all the cool kids carrying denim bags this year. We even spotted it in jewelry! There's literally something for everybody with this trend. To style your denim piece, consider neutrals, but don't limit yourself there. A pretty denim dress can look sensational with those bright tone sandals you've got from past seasons. Treat handbag, footwear, and other denim accessories as if they're classics. Wear with everything. Dress, SEA, at Net-a-Porter 4. Fringe has been climbing the style ranks for the past few years, but this season it'll hit a fever pitch. It arrived initially as a trim to leather jackets, handbags, and particularly shoes. For 2016, you'll see it in all of these items again, but also in particular edging on pants and jeans of all kinds, updating into more variations with jackets, and handbags, and evolution on the shoe. To work the fringe trend, it's also meant to be the showcase piece in the outfit. Pair it with simple, subdued classics like tees, tanks, and other basics to make your fringe item really pop. For a fresh look, consider pairing fringe shoes with other trends in season this year. It can completely work. With this item, you'll also see a lot of bohemian feel, but there are a lot of ultra sophisticated pieces in classic cuts for 2016, too.
