Thieves 'desecrate' Dunedin Anzac memorial

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 19/04/2016 Cleo Fraser

A Dunedin war veteran says he wants to wrap his walker around the necks of those who desecrated an Anzac memorial at his rest home.

Lloyd Martin, 92, says he isn't normally a violent man but the actions of those who stole nine white crosses and a national flag from the Radius Fulton Care Centre this week has got his blood boiling.

"I'd like to pick up my walker and wrap it around their necks just to give them some idea of the depth of feeling about Anzac Day with returned servicemen," he told NZ Newswire when asked if he had anything to say to those responsible.
