Spark services are back up and running, after customers were experiencing difficulties on Sunday morning.

"Looks like things should be getting back to normal now!", it stated on its Facebook page just before 11.30am.

It says it had a hardware failure in one of its data centres, which caused the trouble on both mobile and broadband around the country. Traffic is now being diverted through another route.

"If you're still having issues, try restarting your mobile or router to re-register it on the network, and drop us a private message with your account or phone number if you're still having trouble," Spark said in a statement on Facebook.

Spark's Facebook page had been inundated with complaints from customers who were having issues with the network, and are unable to get through via telephone.

"We're aware of issues affecting some people broadband mobile in various places around NZ right now, we're looking into it urgently and will share more info as soon as we have it. Thanks for sitting tight, we appreciate it," Spark said earlier.

"I cant make any phone calls, not even to Spark and can't get data either [sic]," another customer, Soph Moore, said.
