The three people missing amid fears they were caught up in a Hastings sleep-out fire have now been accounted for.

Firefighters were called to the blaze in Norton Road just after 5am on Sunday.

There were believed to be three people living in the sleep-out and firefighters had been searching the building for them.

Later in the morning the trio were accounted for, a Fire Service spokeswoman confirmed to NZ Newswire.

No details were available on whether they had escape the fire or were out at the time.
