Steven Adams and the Oklahoma City Thunder have lost the opening game of their seven match series against the Portland Trail Blazers in the NBA playoffs.

The Trail Blazers claimed a 104-99 win on the back of a strong first half which saw them lead by as many as 19 points on Monday (NZ time).

Oklahoma City got within three points early in the fourth quarter, but poor three-point shooting cost them late in the match.

In total, the Thunder landed five of their 33 three-pointers, while the Trail Blazers were 11-25.

Adams finished the match with 17 points, nine rebounds and three steals, while his teammate Russell Westbrook had 24 points, 10 rebounds and assists.

But it was Adams' old teammate and 'Stache Brother' Enes Kanter who stole the show with 20 points and 18 rebounds, while his teammate Damian Lillard finished with a game-high 30 points.

The victory not only put the Blazers up 1-0 in the best-of-7 series, but snapped a 10-game playoff losing streak for the Portland club. The Thunder have now also lost 10 straight road post-season games.

The two teams will face off again on Wednesday.
