Tom Hiddleston Sings As Hank Williams At Movie Premiere

The Huffington Post The Huffington Post 19/10/2015 Cole Delbyck

Tom Hiddleston sang selected songs from his new film "I Saw the Light" after its premiere in Nashville on Saturday. The film tells the story of iconic country crooner Hank Williams, who deeply influenced the course of popular music in the 20th century.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the native Londoner performed most of the concert as Williams, even adopting the singer's Southern drawl. Hiddleston chose to sing classics like "Hey Good Lookin," "Why Don't You Love Me Like You Used To Do" and "Move It On Over," while co-star Elizabeth Olsen and director Marc Abraham danced along.

"I've realized I'm incapable of doing any of this in a British accent," he told the crowd. "You know the British are famously repressed."

Hiddleston shared the first clip of the film on his Twitter page back in September, which shows the actor as Williams in the recording studio and gives the audience a peek into the singer's home life with his wife Audrey Mae Williams, played by Olsen.

The film and Hiddleston's performance were recently made ineligible for any Oscar love after its premiere date was moved from this Nov. 28 to March 25 of next year. Sony Pictures' Tom Bernard told Deadline that the delay had nothing to do with the film's initial reception. The film currently holds a 31 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

"We looked at the landscape and are making a decision that I think is a good one for the film,” Bernard said. “Tom Hiddleston’s got three movies out potentially so the press is consuming him."

Hiddleston, who has been in the midst of the press tour for his film "Crimson Peak," visited HuffPost Live on Friday with co-star Jessica Chastain to discuss the gothic horror flick
