Tough experiences vital: Robinson

Trent Robinson could only look to the future for positives after his Sydney Roosters side slumped to their fifth successive NRL defeat on Sunday, the Tricolours worst season start since 2007.

It was former Roosters fullback Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, in his first match against his old club, since defecting to the Warriors in the off-season, that sent the Roosters crashing to 0-5, with a golden point try to hand the visitors a 32-28 win at Central Coast Stadium.

Tuivasa-Sheck was one of a number of big guns to exit Bondi at the end of 2015, including James Maloney and Michael Jennings.

The Roosters plight hasn't been helped by injuries to Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and Boyd Cordner as well as Mitchell Pearce's suspension.

Again it wasn't good enough for the under-siege Roosters, but Robinson insisted that the top level experience was helping his young side in particular rookie halves Jackson Hastings and Jayden Nikorima and young fullback Latrell Mitchell.

"You have to blood some of these guys and you have to wear what is going to happen," Robinson said.

"We are being forced to but we are also not afraid of leaving them out there and them learning some footy, because it will benefit us in the future.

"It hurts at the moment but that is footy and that is what clubs have to do."

"Newcastle are going through it at the moment and Browny (coach Nathan Brown) is taking that view.

"We want to win each week and we want to compete really hard, but we also want the future."

However Robinson remained unimpressed with the effort of his side against the Warriors.

"Don't think that I am trying to cover up," he said.

"We should have won today, we had enough opportunities to.

"The short and long of it is we should be winning games but we have got guys who are getting some experience."

The Roosters have a five-day turnaround before facing South Sydney at ANZ Stadium on Friday night.

Robinson said Waerea-Hargreaves and Cordner remain a month away from a return. Pearce returns from his ban in round nine.
