Just days before New Zealand's final Olympic track cycling squad is named, Dylan Kennett, Regan Gough and Nick Kergozou featured prominently on the first day of the omnium.

Kennett won the scratch race, with Kergozou third and Gough ninth, then backed up with a win in the 4km.

He clocked 4min 19.016sec to second-placed Gough's 4:21.834, with Kergozou completing the trifecta by taking third in 4:24.103.

Gough rounded out the day with a win in the elimination race, with Kennet fourth and Kergozou ninth.

The men's endurance squad is looking to rediscover its best form after finishing a disappointing seventh at this year's world championships in London in March.
