Three young Christchurch offenders went on a mini crime spree overnight as they robbed a dairy and led police on a car chase.

The trio initially stole a ute in central Christchurch, before using it in a burglary at Templeton, police say.

After fleeing the scene, the car had a minor crash at Prebbleton where police soon after spotted it and called on it to stop.

When it did not, police spiked the car near the Rakaia Bridge and took the trio into custody.

The offenders, two aged 15 and one aged 16, will appear in the Youth Court on Saturday.
