The political historian who predicted President Trump would win the 2016 election says Trump personally reached out to congratulate him on his accurate prediction.

American University professor Allan Lichtman details the communication with Trump in his new book "The Case for Impeachment," Politico reported.

Lichtman wrote that shortly after the election, he got a letter from Trump that read: "Professor - Congrats - good call."

The professor drew attention during the campaign for predicting that Trump would win the 2016 election, based on a formula he created.

Just days after the election however, Lichtman shared a new prediction: that Trump would be impeached.

His new book elaborates on his predictions and suggests several possible ways Trump could be impeached, including treason charges over possible ties to Russia, abuse of power or offenses from before Trump's inauguration such as housing violations.

To date, no president has been removed from office after being impeached and convicted. Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton were successfully impeached but acquitted by the Senate, and Richard Nixon resigned before he could be impeached.
