Former world champion Emma Twigg will headline New Zealand's attempt to get five more rowing crews to Rio at the final Olympic qualifying regatta in Switzerland.

Apart from Twigg's bid in the women's single sculls, New Zealand will also chase qualification in the men's and women's quad, men's lightweight double and men's four.

Twigg, the 2014 world champion, will be in a 13-strong field and needs a top-three finish to secure a berth in Rio in August.

Her rivals include double Olympic Champion Ekaterina Karsten of Belarus and 2012 Olympic silver medallist Fie Udby Erichsen of Denmark.

The race will be Twigg's first in international competition since taking time out from the sport to study in Europe.

The four other New Zealand crews need to finish in the top two of their events in the regatta in Lucerne from May 22 to 24 to make the cut.
