New Zealand sculler Emma Twigg has enjoyed the rare experience of sharing a boat, rowing to twin titles at the Head of the Charles regatta in Boston.

The former world champion powered to victory in the women's double sculls with Australian Olympic single sculls champion Kim Brennan.

The pair covered the three mile course on the Charles River in just over 18 minutes, setting a race record.

Twigg and Brennan were also part of the victorious international women's eight crew.

Three-time Olympian Twigg said she planned to retire from international rowing after missing out on a medal at the Rio Games in August.
