© Screengrab / Wellington Zoo Facebook Wellington Zoo says two of its cotton-top tamarins are first-time parents of twins.

"Celeste and Esteban have welcomed twins this morning," the zoo says on its Facebook page.

The babies have been seen clinging to dad's back so far but the species shares parenting duties.

The zoo has released a video, which has had more than 6000 views, and is promising to update on the progress of the twins.

Cotton-top tamarins are only found in Colombia and are one of the most endangered primates due to habitat loss. There are about 6000 of them living in the wild.
