A set of toddler twins — a boy and girl — were found dead inside a pickup truck parked outside their Louisiana home Saturday, authorities said.

The mother — unable to find the 3-year-old twins — went to her neighbors for help in the Shreveport suburb of Bossier City and found the children unresponsive in the vehicle at around 3 p.m., according to a local report.

The children were identified by the Shreveport Times as Oliver and Aria Orr.

“We don’t know if the children climbed in the car or if they were left in the car,” Bossier City police spokesman Mark Natale told KTBS-TV.

An autopsy will be conducted and is expected to determine how the twins died.

It’s unclear if weather was a factor in the deaths as temperatures in Shreveport spiked beyond 90 degrees at around 1 p.m., according to National Weather Service meteorologists.

As word of the children’s death was announced, a deluge of condolences poured into an apparent Facebook page for the children’s father.

About two weeks before the deaths, little Oliver was hospitalized for an unspecified injury.
