NZ Newswire logoNZ Newswire 15/08/2016

Gun-wielding, masked intruders have held up two Christchurch pubs within hours and police say the incidents may be linked.

Armed intruders made their way into the Embankment Tavern on Ferry Road at about 9am on Monday before fleeing in a car.

About an hour-and-a-half later, masked men carrying guns burst into O'Sheas bar on Marshland Road, where they threatened staff and made off with a large amount of cash.

The robbers were seen driving away in a white station wagon.

Police say they cannot discount the two events may be linked.
