Two arrested after elderly man stabbed

Two women have been arrested in Tauranga after an elderly man was stabbed and had his car taken outside a bank.

Police say the 85-year-old was stabbed before his attackers fled in his vehicle outside the Westpac on Chadwick Road in Greerton at about 3.15pm on Thursday.

He was still in Tauranga Hospital in a stable condition on Friday morning.

Police arrested two women, 25 and 27-years-old, following a brief pursuit on Thursday evening.

They will appear in Tauranga District Court charged with aggravated robbery.
