Two men have been charged with murdering a gang associate, nine months after he was dropped off at an Auckland hospital with serious head injuries.

The men, aged 31 and 32, were arrested on Friday and will appear in the Manukau District Court, police say.

They have been charged with murdering 24-year-old Clayton Ratima, who was dropped off at Middlemore Hospital in February and who died a few days later.

Tribesmen Motorcycle gang members were said to have dropped him off.

Police at the time said Mr Ratima was a gang associate and prospect and had been beaten severely at the gang headquarters in Berrit Place, Otara.
