Two men have appeared in Porirua District Court following a violent dairy robbery.

Police say the owner was left with several knife wounds to the back of his head and neck as a result of the August 6 attack.

A 15 year-old-boy spoken to as part of the investigation has been referred to Youth Aid.

Separately, police say the owner of Kendal Food Centre in Burnside, Christchurch faced three offenders armed with a pistol on Wednesday.

Two of them took him to the store room and punched him while the third stole cartons of cigarette from behind the counter and tried to take cash but was thwarted by an empty till.
