The ultra-fast broadband uptake is increasing and 31 per cent of people with access to it are connected, Communications Minister Simon Bridges says.

The latest UFB update shows the number of households, businesses, schools and hospitals connected stands at 327,864.

That's a 13 per cent increase in three months.

"The level of demand so far has been strong, with New Zealand boasting the second highest growth rate for fibre subscriptions in the OECD," Mr Bridges said.

"By the end of 2024, more than 84 per cent of New Zealanders will have access to UFB."
