Vatuvei struck by Hurrell's new surrounds

Warriors veteran Manu Vatuvei says it's a bit odd seeing hard-running centre Konrad Hurrell in another NRL jumper.

The 25-year-old Hurrell left the Warriors in May after making only three 2016 NRL appearances and breaching team protocol on a post-match night out in Auckland.

He subsequently signed for Gold Coast and is rediscovering his best form in Queensland, bagging a try against his former side on Sunday.

However it wasn't enough as the Warriors ran in a 24-14 victory against star fullback Jarryd Hayne's new outfit.

"It was really funny seeing Konny on the other side wearing the other jersey," Vatuvei told Warriors TV after the match.

"But he played really well and we wanted to kind of stop him."

Young gun Solomone Kata, who directly opposed Hurrell in the centres and scored two tries, said the thought of facing his friend and fellow Tongan had him in a tizz.

"I was pretty nervous at the start to mark him, but when the game started I felt relaxed," the 21-year-old Kata said.

"It was good because we came away with the win."
