Nick Voke has helped New Zealand surge to a share of 12th at the midway stage of the Eisenhower Trophy men's amateur team golf tournament in Mexico.

Voke shot a four-under 68 to be the best performer in the three-man Kiwi team for a second straight day in Riviera Maya.

Luke Toomey carded 70 at the Iberostar Playa Paraiso course while Ryan Chisnall shot a non-counting 74.

New Zealand, who were 29th overnight at the 71-nation event, share 12th with five other teams on five-under.

Australia have stormed to the front on 19-under, eight clear of two-time defending champions the United States.

Voke, a student at Iowa State University, is fifth-equal in the individual standings on six-under.

Cameron Davis leads on 10-under, one shot better than Australian team-mate Harrison Endycott.
