© NZ Police A man who eluded police for two weeks with 17 warrants out on his name has been found hiding under a bed in Auckland.

Police on Wednesday said they had serious concerns for a woman known to Karl Brown after he went missing following an alleged assault on June 7.

But less than an hour after appealing to the public, police said they had found 29-year-old Brown hiding under a bed in Beach Haven on Auckland's North Shore.

He was arrested and will appear in North Shore District Court on Thursday.

Police earlier said Brown had an extensive history of family violence and had been looking for the woman.

"Let me be clear, if we find evidence that anyone has helped Karl Brown to avoid being arrested, we will look to charge those people," Detective Inspector Bruce Scott said.

The charges against Brown included robbery, male assaults female and threatening to kill among others.
