Spinner Imad Wasim has collected a career-best haul of 5-14, with Pakistan thrashing West Indies by nine wickets for a 1-0 lead in their T20 series.

Wasim ripped through the Windies batting order as the reigning World T20 champions managed just 115 from 19.5 overs in Dubai on Friday.

Pakistan made short work of the run chase, surpassing the total in 14.2 overs.

Pakistan got off to a flying start after winning the toss and quickly reduced the Windies to 5-22, Wasim taking three of the wickets to fall.

Dwayne Bravo was the only batsman to put up any resistance before he was out for 55 to a Umar Akmal catch off the bowling of Sohail Tanvir.

Jerome Taylor, with 21, was the only other Windies player to reach double figures.

Pakistan had no trouble knocking off their target with Khalid Latif (34 ) and Babar Azam (55) seeing them to victory following the loss of Sharjeel Khan (22).

The second match of the three-game series takes place on Saturday.
