Webrazzi, Turkey’s Main Tech Blog, Sells Minority Stake To Aslanoba Capital

TechCrunch TechCrunch 22/04/2014 Mike Butcher

From time to time we like to check in with the European tech blog scene to see what’s up. And there’s a significant update in the form of the news that , Turkey’s main tech startup news outlet, has sold 15% of its equity of , a leading VC in Turkey. Terms were not disclosed, but the cash will be used to to expand Webrazzi’s operations outside of Turkey into the Eastern European and the MENA (Middle East, North Africa) regions.

Hasan Aslanoba, founder and the CEO of Aslanoba Capital, joins the board. The news is good for (pictured) the founder of the blog, who quickly became known as the ‘Arrington of Turkey’ after starting up in 2006.

Kutsal will continue to lead the Webrazzi team as the largest shareholder as well as the CEO of the company. Webrazzi has done a stirling job covering the recent upheavals in Turkey regarding both the social media protests against the government and the shutting down of Twitter and YouTube there.

It’s good news that Tech Blogs in Europe are scaling-up, given the rising scene there. We’ve scene new launches, such as , appear and some over-all ramping up of English language coverage (important for international audiences to understand what’s going on) both in Eastern and Western Europe. It’s all good for the tech eco-system.
