Wellington meth chain busted: police

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 6/07/2016

Wellington police say they have busted a methamphetamine chain in the capital and seized about $1.7 million worth of property.

One man was arrested at his home in the central city on Thursday morning and charged with two counts of supplying the drug.

The asset recovery unit restrained more than $1m of his property, including two houses, two vehicles and bank accounts containing $105,000, allegedly gained through drug crime.

A woman was arrested on similar drug charges last month and a house restrained.

The pair were linked to a meth supply network around Wellington, says Detective Senior Sergeant Nick Pritchard.

The raid and arrests were a great success, he said.

The man is due to appear in Wellington District Court on Thursday and the woman will reappear on Monday.
