The 22-year-old right back has returned home to Australia for personal and family reasons.

Phoenix co-coach Des Buckingham said Tratt left with the club's blessing, and they wished him well for the future.

"We are disappointed to lose Jacob because he had done so well since joining the club but in the circumstances it was the right thing to do," he said.

"He had a huge 12 months going from playing in Sydney FC's youth team and the New South Wales Premier League to playing every A-League game with the Phoenix."

Tratt played every minute of Wellington's season until an ankle injury during round 19 saw him out of the squad.

He made 20 appearances, and scored one goal.

Tratt joins striker Shane Smeltz on the list of Phoenix confirmed departures, the 35-year-old veteran announcing on Monday that he had signed with Indonesian club Pusamania Borneo FC as a marquee player.

Despite a late-season resurgence, Wellington have missed out on making the A-League play-offs, finishing seventh after drawing 1-1 with Sydney FC last Saturday.
