Wellington postie fails to deliver

A Wellington postie has been stood down after 3000 items of mail, including local body voting papers, weren't delivered in the suburb of Maupuia.

Wellington City Council electoral office Warwick Lampp says 667 voters in 13 streets have been affected over the past week.

Mr Lampp says he's disappointed NZ Post took so long to advise him of what had happened.

However, he says NZ Post has taken steps to remedy the issue and all the voting documents would be delivered on Friday.

Local body voting ends at midday on October 8.
