Wests Tigers exit was a blessing: Blair

Brisbane prop Adam Blair says getting out of the Wests Tigers two years ago was the best move he could have made.

But the Kiwis international admits he can empathise with his ex-club's plight ahead of the Broncos' Friday night clash with the joint-venture at Suncorp Stadium.

Blair, 30, has not looked back since ending a frustrating three-year stint at the Tigers and joining the Broncos in 2015.

However, he allowed himself a moment of reflection before running out against his old club in what will be his 250th NRL game.

Blair struggled with the losing record at the joint venture after six years immersed in Melbourne's winning culture from 2006-11 before displaying career-best form at Brisbane.

Asked if the Broncos move was the best thing he could have done, Blair said: "Yeah, I got an opportunity that I couldn't turn down.

"I got the chance to work with great staff and Wayne Bennett especially, to try and get me back on track to where I thought I could be and it has worked out."

However, Blair still clearly had a soft spot for his former team especially after their nightmare start to the 2017 season.

The Tigers will arrive at Brisbane second-last on the table with just three wins but it has been their off-field dramas that has made the headlines.

The club has lurched from one crisis to another since coach Jason Taylor was sacked after three rounds.

In the latest blow, playmaker Mitchell Moses has been released to join Parramatta with immediate effect.

Blair said he couldn't help but feel for his ex-club.

"They have obviously been through some tough times are trying to rebuild their club and get through to the other side of whatever has been happening down there," he said.

"Talking from experience eventually it takes a toll on you as a player. It does filter down and put pressure on players individually and as a group."
