White Sox up to fifth in world rankings

New Zealand have improved three places to fifth in the annual women's softball world rankings.

The White Sox finished in a share of seventh at the world championship in Canada in July but improve courtesy of a change to the ranking method from the World Baseball Softball Confederation, which weighs "additional events".

Japan remain in top spot despite losing the world championship final to second-ranked USA.

In a quiet year for men's softball, the Black Sox are still on top of the rankings, narrowly ahead of 2015 world champions Canada.
