Wild weather tips two vehicles

South Island motorists are being warned to be careful on the roads after high winds led to two vehicles rolling over.

The MetService issued a severe weather warning on Thursday for western parts of the South Island.

A campervan travelling on State Highway 79 near Geraldine rolled while a truck and trailer overturned on State Highway 73 between Springfield and the West Coast Road.

No one was hurt in either crash.

Strong wind warnings are in place throughout Thursday evening and Friday morning for Canterbury, Marlborough, Wellington and Wairarapa and Hawkes Bay south of Hastings

Meanwhile, motorists have also been urged to avoid driving in Central Otago with surface flooding on most roads in Queenstown, Alexandra and rural towns within the region.
