The 38-year-old left-hander shot into contention with a sizzling nine-under 63 second round, backing that up with a solid 69 the following day.

His three-round tally of 203 was two shots astray of overnight leader Chris Stroud going into the final day at the Coco Beach Golf and Country Club.

But although Wilkinson started promisingly with two birdies in his first five holes, he couldn't consolidate and fell back with bogeys at the par-four 12th and 14th.

A birdie at the 17th lifted him into a tie for 17th with six others, six strokes down on tournament winner DA Points, who mixed nine birdies with three bogeys for a final round six-under 66.
