Wilkinson shared second place at a weather-affected sectional qualifying tournament in Florida when play was suspended midway through his second and final round.

The top four finishers in a 62-man field will qualify for the US Open in Pennsylvania next week.

US PGA Tour regular Wilkinson, who hasn't contested a Major tournament, shared ninth place after the first round at Timuquana Country Club courtesy of a three-under 69.

He was two-under after eight holes of his second round, leaving him in a tie with five others on five-under. American Joey Garber leads on eight-under through seven holes.

Kiwi No.1 Danny Lee has already qualified for the US Open starting at Oakmont Country Club on June 16.
