Wilkinson qualifies for PGA Tour card

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 6/10/2016

New Zealand golfer Tim Wilkinson has secured his PGA Tour card by just $NZ545 after the final tournament in the four-event finals series was cancelled.

The Tour Championship was due to start on Friday (NZT) at the Atlantic Beach Country Club, but was called off as Hurricane Matthew threatened the Florida coast.

The finals series awards 25 cards for next season's PGA Tour, and Wilkinson's $US27,425 edged 26th-placed Rob Oppenheim of the US by a scant $US329.

Wilkinson will join compatriots Steven Alker, who recorded two top-20 finishes in the finals series, and world No.54 Danny Lee on the Tour next season.
