Black Caps skipper Kane Williamson has ended nearly four weeks on the sideline with a match-winning 89 for his Indian Premier League team.

In his first appearance of the IPL season for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Williamson struck six fours and five sixes in a 51-ball knock which lifted them to 191-4 against the Delhi Daredevils.

The visitors responded with 176-5 as Hyderabad sealed a fourth win and climbed to second place.

Williamson rarely featured in his team's march to the title last year and once again looks set to battle for one of the import playing spots in every game.

After scoring 13 from his first 16 balls, he discovered his timing, putting on 136 for the second wicket with Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan.

The innings was his first since scoring 176 for New Zealand in the drawn third Test against South Africa in Hamilton.
