Part of Willis Street in central Wellington was cordoned off after a glass window in the State Insurance Building broke.

A window had cracked on the 15th floor of the building on the Willis Street side, a Fire Service spokeswoman said.

The cordon was lifted after work was done to make the situation safe.

Fairfax published a picture of a worker with a broom removing the jagged edges of the broken window after glass fell on the street.
