Fijian flyer Jone Macilai has re-signed with the Crusaders for the next two Super Rugby seasons.

His retention helps to offset the impending departure of two other wingers, Johnny McNicholl and Fiji Test representative Nemani Nadolo, to European clubs.

Suva-born Macilai, 25, had a tough start as a Crusader, breaking an arm in a pre-season match last year and having to wait until round 13 to make his Super Rugby debut.

Coach Todd Blackadder says Macilai has taken his opportunities in 2016 to become an integral part of the team and create a selection headache.

With Nadolo out injured, Macilai and McNicholl will be the Crusaders' starting wingers in their quarter-final against the Lions on Sunday morning in Johannesburg.
