NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 31/07/2016

Police are hunting for a driver who hit a pedestrian in Glenfield, Auckland, on Thursday and took off.

The driver's car will have a damaged wing mirror and a smashed windscreen because the mirror got caught in the pedestrian's bag and he was flung onto the windscreen.

The accident happened on Glenfield Road, just past Eskdale Road, between 6.10pm and 6.30pm on Thursday, police say.

The car was a smaller red or black Subaru, possibly a hatch or Impreza.

The driver appeared to be heading around the pedestrian who was crossing the road on his right but changed direction and hit him on the left. The driver slowed down but did not stop.

The victim has a broken left wrist and severe bruising.

Police are seeking witnesses.
