According to WKRN, 24-year-old Kelsey McMurtry was auditioning at strip club in downtown Nashville, Tennessee, about 4 p.m. and left her daughter in the back of the car with the windows rolled up. McMurtry's friend, 19-year-old Summer Taylor, was supposed to be watching the child but had gone inside to watch her friend's audition.

A person walking by saw the girl in the car and called police. According to the arrest warrant, it was 72 (22C) degrees outside and the temperature inside the car had reached 100 (37C) degrees. The passerby estimated the girl was in the car about a half hour.

When removed from the car, the girl was wearing a heavy coat and drenched in sweat, according to WSBTV. She was treated at a hospital and placed with Tennessee Department of Children's Services.

Taylor told police she was watching the child but witnesses disputed that. McMurtry and Taylor both face child neglect charges.
