All Whites striker Chris Wood has been named in the English Championship team of the season but missed out on the main gong at the league's prizegiving.

Prolific Leeds United marksman Wood was one of three players short-listed as player of the season. That honour went to French winger Anthony Knockaert, who plays for leaders Brighton and Hove Albion.

There was consolation for 25-year-old Wood, who was selected among the 11 players in a Championship team of the season.

Wood has scored 24 goals in 38 appearances in the second-tier league, two more than Newcastle United forward Dwight Gayle, who was the third person nominated for player of the season.

Scoreless in his last three games, Wood's priority will be to ensure fifth-placed Leeds United remain in the top six and qualify for the Premier League promotion play-offs.

They face second-placed Newcastle United this weekend.
