Wood scores again for Leeds United

An eighth goal in eight games for Leeds United has continued an exceptional start to the year for All Whites striker Chris Wood.

Wood blasted his side ahead midway through the first half as his fifth-placed team beat lowly Bristol City 2-1 in the second-tier English Championship.

The 25-year-old maintained his goal-a-game average since New Year's Eve when latching on to a through ball from former Spanish international Pablo Hernandez and making no mistake with a rifling shot.

It lifted Wood to 19 Championship goals, one behind league-leading Newcastle United marksman Dwight Gayle, who returned to action on Wednesday after missing the last month with injury.

Wood's form in January was good enough to have him crowned Championship player of the month.
