Luke Woodcock's prolific start to the summer has earned the Wellington opening batsman a possible place in the New Zealand A team to play Pakistan.

The addition of Woodcock and another player to shine in domestic cricket, Canterbury seamer Kyle Jamieson, has swelled the squad to 14 ahead of the three-day game beginning in Nelson on Friday. A starting 11 is to be confirmed.

Woodcock played the last of his seven limited-overs internationals in 2011.

The 34-year-old has scored 447 runs in his first five innings of the Plunket Shield season, including an unbeaten 203 in the latest round against Auckland.

There are three openers in the NZ A squad, including Jeet Raval and Dean Brownlie.

Jamieson, 21, has taken 13 Plunket Shield wickets at an average of 21, building on some impressive domestic form last summer.

New Zealand: Henry Nicholls (capt), Todd Astle, Tom Blundell, Dean Brownlie, Colin de Grandhomme, Jacob Duffy, Lockie Ferguson, Shawn Hicks, Kyle Jamieson, Ed Nuttall, Bharat Popli, Jeet Raval, Luke Woodcock, Will Young.
