Wool pulled over duvet customer's eyes

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 22/05/2016

Some Kiwis have had the wool pulled over their eyes after their "New Zealand-made, alpaca duvets" were found to be inferior knock-offs made in China.

Duvet and rug business Nangong Limited along with its owner Yun Qiang Hou were fined more than $109,000 after pleading to 14 charges of making false claims in the Auckland District Court.

Instead of being filled with alpaca wool, the duvets were actually stuffed with sheep's wool, and were made in China instead of being locally-made as was stated on the packaging.

The company was fined $91,000 while Mr Hou received $18,200 in fines.
