Russell John Tully, 49, was in May sentenced to life imprisonment with a 27-year non-parole period for killing Peg Noble and Susan Leigh Cleveland in 2014.

Worksafe NZ alleges MSD failed to take all practicable steps to ensure the safety of its employees while at work.

The case is due to start in Wellington District Court on Monday.

It's the fourth time WorkSafe has taken legal action against the government over fatal incidents.
