Participants at the World Masters Games in Auckland will get the morning off on Tuesday to honour Anzac Day, before the focus turns to the basketball court at midday to see some big names showing their stuff.

An exhibition match featuring former New Zealand and Australian basketball stars will be held at the North Shore Events Centre when Team Rack City (New Zealand A Grade, age 35+) take on the Hasbeens (Australia A Grade, 40+).

Former Tall Blacks Phil Jones, Brendon Pongia and Arthur Trousdell lead the Kiwis but they will be up against seven-foot-tall former NBA player Chris Anstey and fellow dual Olympic basketballer Sam Mackinnon, in a team stacked with former Australian NBL stars including championship winners Darren Lucas and Andrew Parkinson.

The Anzac Day commemorations for Games participants include a Seasprite helicopter fly past at Queens Wharf at 1.45pm and parade by New Zealand Defence Force and New Zealand Cadet Force personnel.

A wreath-laying ceremony will take place at The Cloud from 2pm, concluding with a fly past of Warbirds at 2.45pm.

The World Masters Games finish on Sunday.
