World road champion Peter Sagan to race in Tour Down Under

ADELAIDE, Australia — Road cycling world champion Peter Sagan will make his first appearance in the Tour Down Under since 2010 when he takes part in the 19th edition of the race from Jan. 17-22.

Sagan will lead his new team Bora-Hansgrohe for the first time in the South Australian race which also opens the World Tour calendar.

Since his last Tour Down Under, Sagan has become one of the most dominant riders in the professional peloton with 11 grand tour stage wins.

He has also won both the Tour of Flanders and Gent-Wevelgem this year. Last September, he clinched the road world title at Richmond, Virginia.

The Slovakian racer says "returning after seven years to the race that set off my professional career is a great feeling."
